The Drake

On Saturday I took part in Winterlicious, a culinary event that features Toronto's fine dining with fixed menus and affordable prices. Meme, Mikey, Audi and I had reservation at The Drake on Queen West for lunch. We started with freshly baked mini croissants that came with chocolate and jam spread. The croissants were perfectly warm and flaky - just how momma likes her pastries!

Although I didn't order from the Winterlicious menu, I was plenty satisfied with my meal. I was too intrigued by the Southern BBQ Chicken and Waffles from the Brunch menu to want anything else. It was such a strange combination to me - I've never combined waffles with anything but fruit, and have never combined bbq chicken with anything but ketchup. But then I had a thought: "I like me some fried chicken, and I like me some waffles. This. might. work." and DID IT EVER. This meal was magical (5.0/5.0 sss).

Here's Mikey and Meme. Looking at this photo stirs up memories of sitting in Physiology class. I miss those days!
