Sparring

I had my first sparring session tonight. I went to the uptown TKMT location thinking that I was going to a sparring 'class', but upon arrival realized that it was actually sparring in the ring. I was reluctant at first, thinking I wasn't ready, but after some coaxing I hopped in. I obviously have a lot to work on, but for the most part, I think I did alright (as does Ajahn, which means a whole lot to me :) ) It was a lot of fun; and the nerves from being in there and having an audience diminish once you start - my opponent used the term 'tunnel vision' and I couldn't have described it any better. What I enjoyed most about it was seeing all of the elements of MT training coming together. For instance, why skipping is heavily incorporated or why it's important to always be in stance. Today I learned that my long arms and legs gives me good range for strikes so I'm grateful that I can use my height to my advantage. I also learned that cups don't always protect guys' parts from the force of a swift kick so I will have to keep that in mind next time.
